With „OLDSCHOOL“, NENA proves once again that „oldschool“ is anything but yesterday for her. The album combines her unmistakable voice and her roots in the German New Wave scene with modern electro beats and new musical influences.
One of the album's highlights is NENA's collaboration with Samy Deluxe, who produced „OLDSCHOOL“. Two artists from very different musical worlds come together – and turn that contrast into something unique, surprising and unmistakably NENA.
The title track opens the album with a driving electro beat and a playful wink. NENA looks back on her long musical history while remaining firmly rooted in the here and now. The album's recurring theme is time – the past, the present, letting go, remembering and, above all, the question of what is happening right now.
Songs such as „Lieder von früher“, „Genau jetzt“, „Berufsjugendlich“, „Magie“, „Peter Pan“, „Bruder“ and „Schicksal“ reveal the album's many different sides: energetic, direct, thoughtful, playful and always authentic.
