40 years of NENA – a legendary debut album, rediscovered and remastered in stunning sound quality.
In 1983, “NENA” marked the debut of a band that would leave a lasting impression on the German music scene. Songs such as “Nur Geträumt”, “Leuchtturm”, “99 Luftballons” and “Vollmond” became timeless classics and remain closely associated with an entire generation.
To celebrate its 40th anniversary, this groundbreaking album is released as a special 2-CD anniversary edition. All original tracks have been carefully remastered from the original tapes, allowing the album to be experienced once again with outstanding sound quality while preserving its unmistakable character.
But this edition offers much more than the legendary debut album: CD 2 opens the NENA archives, featuring rare B-sides, special versions and selected live recordings from 1984 and 1985. Highlights include live performances of “Kino”, “Nur Geträumt”, “Zaubertrick”, “Vollmond” and “Satellitenstadt”.
A special highlight is “Amour Candide” – a French version of “Nur Geträumt”, recorded in 1983.
The edition is rounded off by “Ganz oben” in its 40th Anniversary Remastered version, together with selected live and archive recordings offering a fascinating insight into NENA’s early years.
A piece of NENA history
This lovingly produced edition comes in a 6-panel digisleeve with two CDs in black and red, a 24-page booklet featuring the lyrics and numerous historical archive photographs from this defining period in the band’s history.
A particularly personal touch is a note from NENA to her late bandmate and lyricist Carlo Karges, whose creative vision was behind songs including “99 Luftballons”.
For longtime fans, this anniversary edition is a special journey back to NENA’s beginnings. For new listeners, it is the perfect opportunity to discover one of the most important German pop albums of the 1980s in an extensive and beautifully curated edition.
